Dontaku City Square Johor

As a recent ramen convert, I am keen to look for a good ramen joint in Johor Bahru. As Dontaku Japanese Restaurant in City Square Mall has a good range of ramen, I harboured hopes that it will be my ramen haunt in JB. Alas, it was not to be. I have tried the ramen at Dontaku several times but came away from recent visits unimpressed.

A.Felix Johor

A.Felix (Arabia Felix),a simple café located at masai area among the residential area. Despite its simplicity, it provides you with a place to relax and enjoy a cup ofcoffee. It opened its door in June 2015, serving western, Italian, cakes and coffee. The decoration of the café was minimalistic yet modern. It gives a very cosy and relaxing vibe upon entering the café. Diners do not have to worry about parking as there are ample of parking lots directly outside the café. Da men Hotpot Sutera Utama Johor

First, the soups are brewed using only natural ingredients such as stock bones, chicken or seafood. The broth is cooked in high heat for hours to dissolve the marrow and release their umami flavour. No artificial flavourings such as MSG is used. I can vouch for this as I had lots of soup that evening and yet did not have any aftertaste on my tongue nor felt thirsty afterwards. Second, only fresh ingredients are used. Da.Men's fresh seafood are sourced from Pontian. Where possible live seafood is preferred and Da.Men will be adding stock tanks to store more live seafood for the hotpots.

Chapter 1 café has in the area for quite sometime. They are known with their savoury dishes especially their pasta. However, their pasta is only available from 5pm onwards. Other than savoury dishes to explore, they also serve brunch and toasts desserts as well. As for the interior, it is quite cosy with yellow lightings on.
